Setup
Cobra IPTV setup guide
Install a player, enter your login details, load the TV guide and check playback. Most setups take under ten minutes.
Before you start
Have these ready:
- Your Cobra IPTV login details, provided when your subscription is activated.
- A compatible device: Smart TV, streaming stick, TV box, phone, tablet or computer. Not sure? Check Cobra IPTV compatible devices.
- A stable internet connection. See how much speed streaming needs.
- Updated software. Install pending system updates on the device first. This avoids many app-store and playback problems.
Step 1: Install a compatible player app
Open your device’s official app store (Google Play, Amazon Appstore, Samsung or LG app store, or the Apple App Store) and install an IPTV player whose description lists the login type you have: Xtream Codes or M3U. The IPTV player compatibility guide compares common options.
Some Smart TV players work differently. On some Samsung and LG players, the app shows a device ID or MAC address and asks you to add your playlist on the app developer’s website. Follow that app’s own instructions and only use its official website.
Step 2: Enter your login details
Option A: Xtream Codes login (recommended when available)
An Xtream Codes login has three parts. Players usually load the channel list, video library and TV guide automatically with it.
- In the player, choose Add user, Add playlist or Login with Xtream Codes API (the wording varies).
- Give the profile any name, for example “Cobra”.
-
Enter the server URL exactly as provided, including
http://orhttps://and the port number if there is one (for example:8080). - Enter your username and password. Both are case-sensitive.
- Select Add or Login and wait for the content to load.
Option B: M3U playlist link
An M3U link is a single web address that contains your playlist.
- In the player, choose Add playlist and then M3U URL (or “Remote playlist”).
- Paste or type the full link. Long links are easier to enter if the player offers input from a phone or computer.
- Name the playlist and save it. Large playlists can take a minute or two to load the first time.
Typing tip: on a TV remote, check for extra spaces, a capital letter where there should not be one,
and the difference between the digit 0 and the letter O. These cause most
login failures.
Step 3: Load the TV guide (EPG)
The electronic programme guide (EPG) shows what is on now and next. With an Xtream Codes login, most players load it automatically; give it a few minutes after the first login. With an M3U playlist, add the EPG link in the player’s guide or EPG settings if one was provided with your login details.
- If the guide stays empty, use the player’s Update EPG or Refresh option.
- If times are shifted, set the guide time offset or time zone in the player settings.
Step 4: Test playback and fine-tune
- Open a few streams and let each play for at least a minute.
- If you see stutter or a black screen, switch the player’s video decoder between hardware and software mode.
- If your player has a buffer size setting, a slightly larger buffer can smooth out a variable connection.
- Add the streams you watch most to favourites for faster access.
Using Cobra IPTV on more than one device
You can install the player and sign in on several devices, but the number that can play at the same time depends on your plan. Going over the limit usually causes login errors or interrupted playback, so close the stream on one device before starting another. Keep your login details private; sharing them can use up your connections.
